Hi, my name is Danielle. My pig, cat and I are moving to Gainesville, Florida; from Tucson, Arizona. We decided to drive because taking a 130 pound pig on a plane wouldn’t be as fun.
If you’re wondering why in the heck I have a pet pig.. let me explain..
As a kid I’ve always loved those pink fat symbols you saw everywhere. My grandmother was also a huge fan of pigs and I saw them every where when I would visit there. She had the little piggie figurines all through the house; in the kitchen, in the bathroom, the pool area and even her front yard.
Well to begin Tank and Is journey. It started when a friend and I were hanging out I was just looking on a site called “Craigslist” and for some odd reason, I looked for a pot bellied pig. And I found one, the ad said “Mini pot bellied, expected to grow to 30 pounds. Very friendly and only 9 weeks old.” So I messaged the lady and in my head at that moment I just wanted to see the little pig, I just wanted to pet him and see what it was like seeing a mini pig in person. My friend and I headed out, when we arrived I was just in shock. As the lady pulled him out of the cage and all I heard was screaming and people surrounded us. The next thing I know she’s putting him in my truck… and I’m just thinking “holy cow he is a cutie”.
Before I knew it, my friend and I are heading to my house…. with a pig in my lap. I didn’t know what to do at first. I didn’t know how to tell my parents. Where was he gonna sleep? What am I going to name him? How the heck do you care for a pig?
I had the idea I would send a picture to my dad. That’ll break the news. I can easily block him if he yells and he can’t stop me now.
I sent him this picture and said “Isn’t he cute?”
The next few weeks were a little awkward with my parents. My mom wasn’t talking to me and I had to do a lot of work for my new piggie. We finally found out a good name for him though and called him “Tank”.
Tank and I have been through a lot since then. And he definitely has grown A LOT since. Remember how the lady said he’d be 30 pounds? Yeah she forgot the extra 100 pounds he was gonna gain. But his weight doesn’t stop our fun.
He goes to the lake with my family and I
We spend time in the snow at our cabin in Heber, Arizona
And now we are traveling across the country to Florida.
