We started late this morning, around 10am… the Higdons are notorious for sleeping in and running late. Not a bad thing though.
Tank behaved so well leaving the hotel.
But we had another paparazzi ambush and were asked to take pictures, he knew what to do.
The rest of the way through Texas was gorgeous and green. Teddy even enjoyed the view
As we were approaching Louisiana we hit some heavy rain… we were way far north to see the flooding though 😣
We hit Louisiana, and I think it was Tanks favorite.. he was devouring the grass around us.
Everyone always questions how I get Tank in the car… here’s how
When we got to the Mississippi River my dad was very ecstatic and had to stop at the welcome center with the bridges. And what a mess that was.
While I was trying to exit the car my charger was wrapped around my ankle and tripped me. As I fell out of the car my parents were so interested in the river they didn’t notice nor hear me fall. It’s all good though. Just a few scrapes. After we got Tank and Teddy out, we were hit with paparazzi again. We went on a little walk and got some good pictures at the river.
But of course something had to happen at this stop.
My mom kept trying to get Teddy to go to the bathroom, but he was tired of sitting in a car all day so he got out of his collar and hid under a bush. Thankfully we were able to catch him before anything serious but we all learned our lesson…. DON’T PUT THE CAT DOWN
I was so happy with how Tank was at the welcome center though, he was listening, he walked where he was supposed to and he used the bathroom on the grass. Tank has gone this whole trip without having an accident in the car or peeing in a hotel. Knock on wood.
I feel like a proud mom.
We got to the Alabama state line. But they had no welcoming sign so we couldn’t stop. But here is a picture of Tank eating dinner as we cross.
Alabama is a gorgeous state and I wish we would’ve crossed it during the day but I’ve seen plenty of green and I will for the next few years!
My favorite part of the drive is the tunnel under the water. In all honesty it’s not AS exciting as you would hope but it’s pretty darn cool

We are now finally in Florida. Pensacola to be exact. Only 5 hours from our final destination.
This hotel visit was a little worse than the last.. on the elevator in the hotel in Texas, Tank missed and got his foot stuck in the crack. So it’s safe to say that he is afraid of elevators.
Walking into a hotel at 1am with a screaming pig isn’t all to exciting. But it’s that great relaxing moment where you finally lay down and start to doze off….. and then… the cat.
Teddy was freaking out for some reason. He wouldn’t stop meowing, running around the room and it seemed as if he was showing us to the bathroom. We kept all his food, water and litter in there.. but it didn’t make sense why he was making a fuss…
Finally I sat down next to him fed him the food like a baby and touched his lips with the water… and that spoiled cat finally started drinking. He can be weird though, he’s always liked his food in his water. I’ve caught him a few times actually putting cat food in his water bowl.. so I did that and sure enough after 15 minutes of sitting with him he was ready to lay down and relax.

we put his litter on a pad in the bath tub
It’s almost 2:30am now and we have a big day. It’s finally move in day!
It becomes more real as we get closer. And I get more scared. Sometimes this feels like a vacation and then I have to remind myself that this is the start of my future. I’m all the way across the country from everything I know.. everything I grew up with. But it’s time to start learning more!
